Fayhee Gets Double-Double in Sandburg’s Win Over Kishwaukee

Freshman Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) had a double-double and was one of four Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball players to score in double figures as the Chargers pulled away in the final 10 minutes to beat Kishwaukee 87-71 on Saturday at John M. Lewis Gymnasium.
KEY MOMENTS
- The Kougars (12-14 overall, 1-6 Arrowhead Conference) trailed 60-57 with 10:48 to play when Marshawn Phillips split a pair of free throws, but Sandburg (17-7, 4-2) rattled off 12 straight points and was never threatened again. Sophomore forward Deandrey Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) keyed the run with seven points on a rebound basket, 3-pointer and two free throws.
- The Chargers used a 15-0 run in the first half to lead 37-23, but Kishwaukee pulled to within 47-41 at halftime.
- The Kougars, who dressed just six players, played the final 3:14 with just four men on the floor after Robert Johnson and Michael Briggs fouled out.
SANDBURG STANDOUT
Fayhee notched his second double-double of the season, scoring 15 points and pulling down a season-best 14 rebounds. Five of Fayhee’s boards came on the offensive glass.
OTHER TOP CHARGERS
- Robinson scored a game-high 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds, helping Sandburg to a 41-29 edge on the boards.
- Freshman Scott Gowan (Rockford, Ill./Rockford East) scored 16, with 14 coming in the first half. Gowan also had three assists and two steals.
- Freshman Elias Akale (Ashdad, Israel/Mekif Tet) scored 15 on 6-of-7 shooting to go with three assists and a pair of steals.
